Poetry Search - Three Voices, Three Visions

Poetry Search - Three Voices, Three Visions
by Edward Lowbury, Cynthia Walton. Anne Kind, Monica Winner, Lyn Stephenson, Anne Irby Crews
Your Voice
Carried in my womb with love
Voiceless you made your being known
With muffled fists and softened kicks.
At last your long awaited birth
I saw your face
I heard your voice.
All voice that first few months
Desiring food and warmth and love
With fleeting smiles
Your eyes met mine
I heard your voice
I saw your face.
Much loved and cherished you grew fast
And talked and walked and waved
And kissed. And arms around my neck
A warm embrace
I heard your voice
I saw your face.
As you grew up you drew away,
What barrier stood between us both?
And through the years you stayed apart
Came rarely and a cold embrace.
I could no longer feel your arms
I miss your face
I mourn your voice.
